Phases of LIMS implementation at the enterprise

lims

  1.    Determination and analysis phase

The following tasks are solved during the  determination and analysis phase:

–                  to determine design limits;

–                 to analyse the current business processes;

–                 to review the main technical processes;

–                  to design the improved business processes;

–                 to analyze and understand the requirements of quality control to the products;

–                  to determine basic parameters, which influence the quality of the producing goods;

–                 to analyse datas from gas chromatograph;

–                 to determine requirements to the new system;

–                 to prepare the preliminary conceptual architecture.

The actual regulatory documents, which regulate report generation etc., are also analysed. The analysis of the actual software, dataware and hardware is carried out. The detailed functional requirements for design and development of the integration system.

2.    Solution design phase

During the design phase the following tasks are solved:

–                  to determine the detailed requrements to business-processes;

–                  to  biuld a functional and block diagram of the integration system;

–                  to design an information flow model;

–                  to analyse the software, delivered with the gas chromatograph, and to determine the availability of the required parameters for integration;

–                  a logical and conceptiual model Maxum Unilab Intergation is built.

A designed solution should meet all the requirements, determined in previous phase.

3.     Development phase

During the development phase the following tasks are solved:

–                  to design a project, which will meet th e functional requirements, set during the design phase;

–                  to desing architecture, which will meet the business-processes and requirements;

–                 to determine parameters of the software configuration and the installed equipment;

–                  to prepare a test plan for integration system;

–                  to carry out testing of the developed solutions and  to carry out all the necessary adjustments;

–                  to carry out the approval and optimization of the solutions;

–                  to develop and accept the output documents;

–                 to write the design documentation.

During the development phase the configuration for registration and processing of the analysis results in SIMATIC IT Unilab is formed, TMS Chronicler configuration is formed, a direct integration module GC Maxum II and Unilab is developed.

4.     Implementation phase

During the implementation phase the following tasks are solved:

–                the connection of the used equipment is carried out (OPS Server, LIMS Server, workstations of  laboratory assistants) to the plant-wide network Ethernet;

–               to install the front end component SIMATIC IT Unilab on the stations of laboratory assistants

–              to connect the installed software (MAXUM OPC Server) to chromatographs;

–              to adjust TMS Chronicler, Maxum Unilab Integration, and the front end components SIMATIC IT Unilab;

–              to  check readyness of the system for operation and to carry out testing, using the real data;;

–              to prepare for administrator and operator instructions of work with the integration system according to the actual and/or  changed functional responsibilities;

–                 to carry out the analysis of training needs of personnel, to form a plan, to conduct a training.

5.    Phase of experimental-industrial appliance

Withing the experimental-industrial appliance the following tasks are solved:

–        to carry out the final testing of work of the  integration system;

–       to conduct training in work with the integration system for personnel;

–       to put the system into commercial use.
